Glen
Shumate was named President of the C&P by
Publisher/Owner Don King in 2006.
Previously
Shumate served as President of World Tourism
Marketing, a Florida based multicultural
tourism sales and marketing company serving
Prestige Vacation Homes; Travel Professionals
of Color; Cincinnati Multicultural Tourism and
the Ohio Classic.
Shumate
served as Vice President of Tourism
Development, for the Greater Cleveland
Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) 1995-2005
where he oversaw the 750 member
organization’s $2+million tourism marketing,
sales and services programs for leisure travel
and the Spirit of Cleveland Foundation.
These efforts included international,
domestic and multicultural tourism, visitor
information and services, communications,
community affairs, office services,
hospitality training and regional tourism
initiatives.
Prior
to joining the CVB, Shumate served eight years
as Community Relations Director for the
Cleveland Indians Baseball Club Inc., in that
capacity he was responsible for developing
community and civic programs, which enhanced
team’s community involvement.
Additionally, Shumate was responsible
for creating and raising $500,000 for
Cleveland Indians Charities, charitable
contributions, youth education and recreation,
fan/market development programs and player
relations.
He has also worked for the Internal
Revenue Service, Hillcrest Hospital and Cedar
Point Inc.
Shumate’s
civic and professional involvement includes:

Directors; Tri C Jazzfest Cleveland – Board
of Directors; Cleveland Advertising
Association; Student Youth Travel Association,
Diversity Committee Chairman; Travel
Professionals of Color; and National
Association of Market Developers.

Shumate is a frequent speaker at business,

Ad Club, Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga
Community College, Bowling Green State
University, and Cleveland City Club.
Shumate’s
achievements earned him awards and recognition
from Who’s Who in American Colleges and
Universities, Sandusky Citizens Coalition and
featured as one of Crain’s Cleveland
Business and Kaleidoscope Magazine’s 40
Under 40 as well as having resolutions from
the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga, County and
the State of Ohio.
